ready set madness

So you walk into your appointment with your beauty consultant and say, ” I wanna look JUST like this!”

As you excitedly point to all of the photos you’ve downloaded of your favorite celeb. “Sure” they reply; and so the process begins… Highlights, lowlights, waxing, plucking, water bras, push-up bras, and on and on, until YOU finally disappear. And left to represent you is the image of this character that you and the beauty industry created.

We have been inundated with make- over shows that constantly give rude suggestions on why you’re so ugly! Too skinny, too fat, too short, wrong hair…huh!

We have been given the perfect women formula:

  1. 3 cups of silicone
  2. 5 cups of spray tan
  3. 6 ounces of hair extensions
  4. 2 color contacts
  5. 1 can of air brush

Mix ingredients, and bake. Top dish with 1 pair of skinny jeans, and two 4 ½ inch stilettos and Serve. PLEASE!

Listen, we don’t need another Drill sergeant approach full of superficial, one sided, formulas that make people feel bad about themselves to have. What we need are realistic tips to guide us in the right direction, and help us through the process of creating our own style. I’m not advocating that we cut up our Premium Diva cards that come with all of the enhancement benefits, if you know what I mean. What I’m saying is that we are going to rid ourselves of yo-yo thinking that has turned some of us into product junkie-Barbie dolls who constantly question ourselves based on someone else’s beauty standard.
